An energy giving vegetable juice with a slightly peppery taste with the addition of the cabbage.
I realise some may be thinking cabbage, yet the heart leaf of pale green cabbage, savoy and Chinese cabbage is mild in juice and very palatable adding a slight peppery and hot flavour. I would advise one experiment with the quantity. This juice is sustaining and energising with the carrots addition perfect for after morning exercise.
Cabbage as part of the cruciferous vegetables plays a key role in cancer prevention. Due to the three different types of nutrient richness found in this vegetable. Richness in antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and glucosinolates. It is high in alkalising properties and an important healthful addition to one`s diet.
Antioxidants: Polyphenols are at the top of the list for phytonutrient antioxidants in cabbage.
Antioxidants are substances that prevent or delay some types of cell damage and cellular oxidation. They play a key role as healthful scavenger’s that neutralise chemicals called free radicals: unstable molecules, produced by oxidation in the body.
Anti-inflammatory Properties: All types of cabbage contain significant amounts of polyphenols that provide anti-inflammatory benefits, however red cabbage has the highest. Foods which act as Anti-inflammatories are essential to regulate of our inflammatory system and prevent inflammatory responses.
Glucosinolates: Research shows that glucosinolates found in cabbage can be converted into isothiocyanate compounds that are cancer preventive for a variety of different cancers. They improve our body’s detoxification system and leave our cells with a smaller toxic load.

4 large carrots
Small yellow pepper
Handful of flat leaf or curly parsley,
tailor to desire
1 small gem lettuce
1/5 of a heart of a small cabbage,
do experiment as size will vary
½ cucumber or as required to make quantity desired,
I make 1 litre
Add a slice of ginger for zest if desired
Dice all vegetables as suitable for your juicer.
Feed the yellow pepper, gem lettuce, parsley and carrots through the juicer. Add the cabbage and feed the cucumber through after.
Stir and pour into a tall glass.
Enjoy, sip slowly to taste the peppery hot flavour of the cabbage.
